Bears fans suffered a double blow on June 11, with fan favorites Jose Lima (pitcher) and Jack Santora (infield) being picked up by affiliated clubs.

Lima was headed to the Royals’ AAA team in Omaha, but instead went right to the majors and started Sunday (6/15) for Kansas City against the San Francisco Giants.  Wow, one day he’s pitching to the Long Island Ducks, then one week later to the day, he’s pitching to Barry Bonds!  Take a look at the game recap and box score.  Also see the pre-game story from mlb.com.

Santora is now with the Lakewood Blue Claws (A) affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies.  He also played his first games with them on Sunday.

We wish both guys the best of luck with their new clubs, and thank them for the energy and excitement they brought us here in Newark!
