July 12, 2003: Former Bear Jack Santora continued his odyssey through affiliated baseball by being traded on July 9 by the Lakewood Blue Claws (Phillies A) to the Lake Elsinore Storm (Padres A) in southern California.  This marks a return to familiar territory for Jack, as he is a Monterey native and attended college at UCLA.

Jack was picked up from the Bears by the Phillies organization in June (see story), after starting out strong for Newark.  Jack had been steadily getting his batting average up in Lakewood, and started out in Lake Elsinore by going 3-for-6 in his first two games this week.

We'll keep our eye on Jack and wish him success with his new organization!

UPDATE!!  August 25, 2003:  We visited Lake Elsinore on August 23 at a game between the storm and the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.  Click here to read about it!
