July 18, 2003:
Former Newark Bears RHP Jose Lima has done nothing but win for
the Kansas City Royals since being called up from Newark in June.
Last night he went 5 1/3 innings against the AL West division leader,
the Seattle Mariners, to pick up his sixth win in a row, giving him a
record of 6-0. The Royals are 7-0 in games started by Jose,
though he got a no-decision in the first of those wins. Jose's
ERA has been feeling the effects of gravity, dropping to 2.42 with
last night's performance.
Jose left the game in the
sixth after straining a groin muscle. He and manager Tony Peña
decided to play it safe by removing Jose from the game; he will be
We kept score last night.
