January 29, 2004:  Jack Santora, Newark Bears infielder for the first month and a half of the 2003 season, tells us that he has signed a minor league contract with the Philadelphia Phillies organization.  While it is impossible to know where he will end up, the possibilities seem to be Clearwater, Reading, or Scranton.  Jack was with the Lakewood Blue Claws at the A level for part of last season, before playing for the Lake Elsinore Storm in the Padres organization, batting for a combined .309, with 3 HR and 23 RBI across all three teams.  We'll never forget his inside-the-park home run on May 3 at Riverfront Stadium!

Jack paid a visit to the Den on September 12, after the California League season ended.  His many fans were happy to see him!  Click the bottom photo to see it full size, and click here to see more photos from that day.

Newark Bears News wishes Jack the best of luck, and we'll keep you all informed as we hear more from Jack!
